Whenever an old building has to be demolished or its core removed, an enormous amount of demolition
waste is produced. What seems like a pile of rubble, can actually be the beginning of a great material story.
The design collective TFOB presents URBAN TERRAZZO - an innovative material, which transforms the remains of architectural debris into new surfaces for architecture and design. Urban waste — concrete, bricks, other building materials — is carefully selected and reassembled by the principles of traditional terrazzo making, supported by modern technology.
As designers, we strive to give new life to disposed architectural remains. Just as every building inherits
its own unique architectural identity, our material is especially created based on the materials available
from urban demolition. We believe that every architecture inherits its own material story, which is worth being told. From origin to original.

TFOB I THEY FEED OFF BUILDINGS is a new design and architecture collective from Berlin (Germany),
which specializes in material research and design installations. The studio unites a team with an expertise in design, material research, architecture, film and photography.
Their performative design installations explore a new perspective on architecture and its materiality.
The project ‚URBAN TERRAZZO‘, which travels through various regions in order to explore the given materials of architectural demolition, illustrates one of those experiments. The products developed during those explorations, show new possibilities for the application of contemporary, circular building materials.
