Biophilic Surface

All week in Warehouse of Innovation by Atelier LVDW
This event is open for the public.

Designer Laura van de Wijdeven turns waste into the healing elements of nature. Her project Biophilic surface is an on-going research on Biophilic Design. Research has shown that the intrinsic bond we have with nature, called Biophilia, grants us with positive energy. Biophilia is the innate and emotional tie that binds humanity to earth. When biophilia is used in the built indoor and outdoor environment we call it Biophilic Design. Stress is one of the many negative aspects of life that can be reduced through this hypothesis, even with artificial nature. Laura van de Wijdeven translates her fascination for Biophilia into a surface collection applicable to create natural indoor environments. By the use of waste-streams from other industries, like Forbo, Biophilic Surface becomes a very beneficial product. The project highlights a different side of sustainability and the importance of nature for human kind. Located at former V&D warehouse, Vrijstraat 11.
