What the Food

All week at Design Perron | Station

What the food! What shall we eat tonight? The stress of making choices increases. I feel lost among the shelves filled with various products. A maze of deals, promises and temptations. We regularly face a dilemma in the supermarket. Do you choose for the environment, animal welfare or yourself?

Organic, vegan, light, sugar-free or slave-free. Do you know what to choose at the supermarket? There is so much contradicting information about food. And you’re always aware of the consequences of buying a certain item; your health, the environment and animal welfare. It confuses me and I get lost in a maze of information.

I prefer to eat healthy and tasty food which is good for the environment, animal welfare and my wallet at the same time. But once in the supermarket, I get drowned by quality marks, promotions and temptations. First, I put the free-range eggs in my basket, but a little later I change them for the organic version. Quite expensive, and who knows if these chickens do get a good life?
I am also starting to doubt about fair trade chocolate, artisan bread, and light juices. I read contradicting information and no longer know what to believe. I believe that we need less stress about choices so that we can continue living healthily. Where are the avocados? Where is the emergency exit?
