The Groundfridge is developed as a naturally cooled cellar for storing wine and food. It answers to the needs of people and companies who lead modern, self-providing lives. Therefore it is not only a product that fits very well in today’s society, but also the cheapest basement without a building permit. Groundfridge connects people to their environment and fits perfectly in private or communal sustainable building and shared gardening projects. It stimulates people to share public space, save energy and prevent food waste. The design is clear like a cellar with some friendly details: it’s spherical, and the white, smooth surface makes it feel spacious and clean. Groundfridge originated within Studio Floris Schoonderbeek, known from among others product label Weltevree, the Dutchtub Original and the successful charging point for electric cars, the Lolo. With international deliveries starting from November 2019, it’s ready to scale up and realize our dream of changing the way we think about and deal with cooling. Besides the naturally cooled Groundfridge there is a brand new cooled version to support professional use and help warmer climates with more sustainable cooling.
