Fringes & Floats

A research into 3D weaving

All week at Nul Zes gebouw 8 | Downtown

Material and surface design studio Alissa+Nienke and EE Exclusives -experts in jacquard weaving- present the outcome of their collaborative research project into 3D weaving for interior architecture. On show is a total overview of their research, ranging from samples to large surface applications.

Fringes & Floats is the outcome of a research project into 3D weaving applications, by material- and surface design studio Alissa+Nienke and EE Exclusives -experts in high detailed jacquard weaving. In a joint collaboration, A+N have been working with EE Exclusives’ weaving experts and jacquard machines in a quest to discover and stretch the technical possibilities of specialized 3D weaving technology in the context of interior architecture. The result is a collection of innovative, woven textiles for large scale interior applications, like wallcoverings, partition walls and window blinds. Applying special techniques like fringes, floatings and layering, threedimensional surfaces are created that trigger our senses and bring softness into our daily spaces. For us, the ideal combination of craftsmanship and new technologies. During Dutch Design week, we launch a full showcase of our research project. Come by to discover our large sample library and to experience and preview the final collection of Fringes & Floats. This research project is funded by Creative Industries Fund NL.
