Renault official partner of Dutch Design Week

30 March 2018

Dutch Design Week (DDW) and Renault have joined forces with 45 new, completely electric Design Rides for the seventeenth edition of DDW that is to take place in Eindhoven from 20 - 28 October 2018.

Dutch Design Week

From 20 – 28 October the biggest design event in Northern Europe presents work and concepts from more than 2600 designers to more than 335,000 visitors from home and abroad. Spread over about 110 locations throughout the city, DDW organises and facilitates exhibitions, lectures, prize awards, network meetings, debates, festivities and a music festival: DDW Music.

DDW introduces electric Design Rides

It would be difficult to imagine the streets without Design Rides during DDW. For many years now, it has been a regular part of the DDW programme and is one of the most photographed projects during the festival. During the coming edition of DDW, visitors can catch a ride in an electric car for the first time. In cooperation with DDW, Renault is deploying no fewer than 45 electrically powered ZOEs as Design Rides for ferrying visitors from one DDW location in Eindhoven to another.

The use of the electric ZOE is perfectly in line with the sustainable vision for the future shared by DDW and Renault. According to Edwin Schenk from the Dutch Design Foundation, within the scope of the development of the Design Rides, it was a logical step to switch to 100% electric Rides: “Through the new cooperation with Renault this long-hoped-for wish has come true.”

Renault about design, Easy Life and electric cars

Design and innovation are part of the Renault philosophy. The cooperation with DDW gives these values solidity. Since the establishment of Renault in 1898 Easy Life innovations - innovations that make life easier – have been part of its DNA. Electric cars are a good example of this.

Janet Richter from Renault Nederland: “We are very honoured that we are able to connect with Dutch Design Week for the first time this year. The event is an excellent stage for Renault to present itself as a brand that stands for design and innovation. Thanks to the new design strategy of the Dutchman Laurens van den Acker, vice president corporate design at Renault, design is the first reason for our customers to make a purchase. We are also delighted with the 45 electric Renault ZOEs as Design Rides, which will allow DDW visitors to be transported 100% electrically and emission-free for the first time”.
