Surprising presentations and unusual locations in Eindhoven city centre

Coming Saturday, the 14th Dutch Design Week (DDW) will get underway in Eindhoven. For nine whole days, 2500 designers will be presenting their work in almost 100 locations. The extensive programme contains countless surprising presentations in unusual locations. We have made a first selection from one of the three DDW areas: Central Area.

PHILIPS STADIUM: MODEBELOFTE 2015

Concept store You Are Here and curators Niek Pulles and Harm Rensink present Modebelofte, an exhibition of work by freshly graduated fashion talents from international academies, in the Philips Stadium. The 2015 edition Performing Advancers includes work by the British talent Hannah Wallace (winner of the International Award, Graduate Fashion Week London 2015) and the Taiwanese Chou Yun Ting. PATERSKERK: THE ALLEGORY OF THE SOUTH

Ethereal craftsmanship with Atelier van Asseldonk. During the day the church forms the backdrop for a farmer’s market, in the evening the Michelin star restaurant De Treeswijkhoeve will be serving a special menu accompanied by Beerze Bier in a dining room more than twenty metres in length. STEENTJESKERK: FLORIS HOVERS

The perfect moment for visiting church again. Floris Hovers invites you to his sacred world that leaves all the space you could need for your own imagination. An exhibition about order, use of colour and the search for childlike simplicity in design. More info.

STROOMHUISJE: LONDON CALLING

Abundance of energy in the Stroomhuisje, where Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk, Kiki van Eijk, Graham Hollick, Kranen/Gille, Tomáš Libertíny, Lucas & Lucas and Marc Mulders present London Calling Part 2 – The Reunion : art and design inspired by aesthetics, music and the mind-set of the punk era. Saturday 17-10 until Wednesday 21-10, Stroomhuisje, 11:00-03:00 hours.

KAZERNE: OPEN ENDED BY LIDEWIJ EDELKOORT

Big names in style in the Kazerne thanks to the exhibition Open Ended by Lidewij Edelkoort. The laurelled trend forecaster and former chair of the Design Academy Eindhoven selected the pearls from her own personal design collection for a retrospective with an open end. More info.
