Future Series #3 in Milan

07 April 2015

Future Series, the themed-based programme with which Dutch Design Week (DDW) explores future prospects with designers, will have its third edition in Milan. To facilitate this, collaboration has been entered into with Dutch Invertuals, which will also act as host. The programme starts on Friday 17 April at 16:00 hours.

Dutch Design Week and Dutch Invertuals take Future Series to Milan

Milan 2015

Following two successful editions, the Future Series has ventured beyond the country borders for the first time. DDW has compiled a special programme of lectures with the design collective Dutch Invertuals for the design week in Milan. Upcoming and leading designers provide insight into the design process and examine current developments within the profession, with special attention for young talent and experimentation. Future Series will take place in the Teatro Verdi in the Isola district, where also Dutch Invertuals present themselves.

Programme

With a brief and dynamic programme, DDW and Dutch Invertuals want to inspire design professionals and media. DDW ambassador Jurgen Bey (Makkink & Bey) is the keynote speaker. He will be presenting the new magazine Proofflab and will look ahead at the future of the working environment. Other speakers include designers Roos Meerman (Workmates), Laura Lynn Jansen and Thomas Vailly (Dutch Invertuals) and Ralph Nauta from Studio Drift. Moderator is Anne van der Zwaag, director of OBJECT Rotterdam and author of the book Looks Good Feels Good Is Good.

Dutch Invertuals

Dutch Invertuals is a changing group of designers who explore the boundaries of their profession. The initiative, under curatorship of founder Wendy Plomp, is a permanent fixture during DDW and is well known for its surprising presentations. This year in Milan Dutch Invertuals will be showing works by fifteen designers, selected by theme, that have a connection with artisanal work and technology. The way in which the collective presents itself and considers modern design is completely in line with the DDW vision.

Future Series

Each year, DDW reveals how the world of tomorrow is already being made today. To draw extra attention to these promising perspectives, the event – in collaboration with partners and sponsors - has organised the themed Future Series since 2014. The highlight will be the annual Now Future evening during the fourteenth edition of DDW in October.
