Lex Hoefsloot is the winner of 'De Toekomstbouwers' 2018. On Saturday evening 27 October, he won the 'VPRO Toekomst Bouwdepot' (ed. building deposit) of €10,000 with his project Lightyear, a car entirely powered by solar energy. The jury, consisting of Martijn Paulen (director of the Dutch Design Foundation), Afaina de Jong (architect) and Koert van Mensvoort (artist and philosopher) considered Hoefsloot as the ultimate Toekomstbouwer (ed. Future Builder) because of its inventive solutions for the mobility issue.

At 16 July, a one-time-only custom edition of Franchise Freedom, the flying sculpture by Studio Drift, showed at NASA’s Rocket Garden at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex with live music performance of Duran Duran.
