Today, design is largely there to make our lives more comfortable, but some aspects of life are simply not comfortable: Death, for example. This does not mean, however, that design can’t play a comforting role. Death is the one thing we all have to go through, but it is not the same for anybody. Yet, when we lose a loved one, we often have a rather limited choice from a standard range of urns to express our sorrow.
Fabrique Céramique invites nine designers who give new forms to ceramics to commemorate the dead. All b'URN designers use different techniques, and have their own vision of death. What binds them, is that they make beautiful, valuable objects that give them the space to cherish feelings and memories in personal rituals.
