‘Crowdfunding Dutch Design’ is an initiative from Dutch Design Foundation in order to stimulate the Dutch design field to generate alternative forms of revenues and develop products in collaboration with the public. In 2016 the first edition took place in which Kickstarter, Douw&Koren and Dutch Design Foundation made a selection of 10 projects. This year, we are collaborating with two crowdfunding platforms: voordeKunst and Kickstarter. This in order to support as well the technological and innovation driven products as well as the more craft oriented products which are focusing on the local community.
The following selection of projects is looking for a crowd on Kickstarter:
- Sander Lorier – Hybrid Chair
- Somnox BV – Somnox world’s first sleep robot
- Hugsy BV – Hugsy home (heartbeat, pouch & cuddle)
- Ikonic Toys by Floris Hovers – Wooden animals
- OWOW - Wiggle Kit
- Form&Seek - 7 unique products
- Robert Bronwasser, Yannick Brouwer, Daan Weijers - Circa
The following selection of projects is looking for a crowd on voordeKunst:
- Social label - Social label ontwerpt arbeid
- STUDIO &Lotte - Your story through senses
- Evoke - Een collectie eetgereedschap
- Schueller de Waal - Compulsory Shenanigans

Dutch Design Foundation (DDF) is optimistic and believes in the problem-solving abilities of designers for advancing the world. Which is why DDF offers designers opportunities, support, publicity and a platform. DDF organises Dutch Design Week and Dutch Design Awards, but is active far beyond the Netherlands. Throughout the year they organise debates, lectures, exhibitions and meet-ups. Putting the best and most promising designers in the spotlights, and introducing their ideas and designs to the world. www.dutchdesignfoundation.com
Kickstarter helps designers, inventors, artists, musicians, filmmakers, and other creators find the resources and support they need to make their ideas a reality. To date, tens of thousands of creative projects — big and small — have come to life with the support of the Kickstarter community, with the help of over 10 million backers. Some of those projects come from influential creators like Bjarke Ingels or respected companies like Lomography. Most come from amazing creative people you probably haven’t heard of — from design students to basement startups. Learn more and get started at kickstarter.com/learn.
